Keep in Beat with the Bandera Library
By Elise Harbour
The Bandera Library
Hello everyone. Fun fact: did you know that libraries are good for circulation? Get it? Library circulation? Okay, maybe I should stick to books instead of jokes.
Last week was our Big Give fundraiser. Thank you so much to those of you who gave a generous donation. The Bandera Library offers many important resources and services for our community, but in order to do this we must rely on the support of our community. Thank you for helping to fund all of the wonderful programs and services, not to mention the books, movies, and other forms of entertainment that our library provides. Every dollar counts!
On Thursday, Sept. 28, local author Mike Lowrie is launching his book from 4 - 6 p.m. The Bandera Library is the first stop on his new book tour for “House of De Zavala: The Legacy of the Black Heart Stone.” This fast-paced novel set in Texas is perfect for anyone interested in Texas history or Texas stories. Lowrie will be here to talk about his books, sign copies and talk about all the research he's done if you are interested in stopping by.
On Friday, Sept. 29, bring the kiddos and join us for our Space Camp Event. From 4 - 7 p.m., take a trip around the planets and learn information regarding the upcoming eclipse. There will be all sorts of activities, from alien hunting to scavenger hunts, as well as presentations, crafts, and prizes. We will also be giving eclipse glasses to participants.
Our Dungeons and Dragons group is growing and is still looking for another Dungeon Master to run a second game. A Dungeon Master is the game organizer and helps create details and challenges when participants play. If you love storytelling and role-playing, this is perfect for you! Please email [email protected] to sign up.
Be sure to mark your calendars for Thursday, Oct. 12, at 2:30 p.m., and again at 6:30 p.m., for a Preplanning Event hosted by Grimes Funeral Home. Meet with Dawn from Grimes to talk about the benefits of making a preplan for your funeral. Contact Dawn at 830-796-3922 to register for the event.
Wishing you all the best as summer comes to a close and autumn makes its arrival.
Bandera Kronkosky Public Library is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Stay up to date with library events by following us on social media (@BanderaLibrary), or sign up for our monthly newsletter through our website at www.banderalibrary.org. Happy tales, y’all.
