Bobcat football wins on Senior Night
By Lindsey Kunz
MISD Superintendent/Athletic Director
Medina Bobcats took the field on Friday, Sept. 29, to take on Somerset Academy. The Bobcats were looking to earn victory number five of the season, and they did just that in exceptional form.
Touchdown after touchdown led to a 38-0 lead with 22 seconds left in the first half. A small amount of time to earn the extra seven points that the Bobcats needed to complete the game at half by mercy rule. With true determination, the Bobcats would continue to play tough defense. This resulted in an interception and a following play touchdown with just seconds left on the clock. A successful extra point kick and the Bobcats moved the score to 46-0.
Time expired and, once again, Medina won by mercy rule to move to 5-1 on the season.
A win that was even more special to five students, as Medina celebrated senior football, cheer and cross country athletes before the game. Congrats to Seniors TJ DeLeon, Will Derry, Branson Wickham, Brooke Hollenbaugh, and Brandon Harms.
Lady Cat Volleyball moved to 2-0 in district play on Tuesday, Sept. 26, with a straight set victory over the rival Leakey Lady Eagles. The Lady Cats will host Utopia on Friday, Oct. 6, at 4 p.m.
Medina Cross Country attended the Billy Nabours “Oktoberfest” Cross Country meet on Saturday, Sept. 30. Ahnika Grassie finished in 6th place in the girls division, while Rylan Mills completed the race in 4th place in the boys division with a personal record time of 17:48.
Medina is now gearing up for a big Homecoming Weekend! Events begin with the Annual Tailgate Party at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5.
