Keep in Beat with the Bandera Library

By Elise Harbour
The Bandera Library

How about this weather? It is perfect for cozying up and reading a book, so be sure to stop by and stock up on some cozy fall reads or some spooky hide-under-your-bed books.
Speaking of spooky, we are almost halfway through October, which is the season for spooky reads. In the spirit of the season, we are hosting our first ever Fear Street Challenge. All month long, we will feature our extensive collection of books by R.L. Stine. For each book you checkout, read and return, you get an entry for a prize at the end of the month. Tracking and information sheets are available at the circulation counter. The program continues all month long and ends Oct. 31.
Thursday, Oct. 12, is finally the day for our Preplanning Event, hosted by Grimes Funeral Home, taking place at 2:30 p.m. and again at 6:30 p.m. Meet with Dawn from Grimes to talk about the benefits of making a preplan for your funeral. Contact Dawn at 830-796-3922 to register for the event.
Also, Macramé Class is at it again. Taught and hosted by our very own staff member, space for this class is limited, so please call or talk to a staff member to see about joining this Oct. 12, event. Classes take place on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at 4 p.m.
Our very first Lunch and Learn, hosted by Texas A&M Agrilife Extension, will take place on Monday, Oct. 16 at 12:15 p.m., to learn about healthy food choices, planning out meals, and more. This takes place for a total of four consecutive Mondays and is meant to be continued learning. If you can, please join us for all four events, but it is also okay to join as you can.
Save the date on Thursday, Oct. 19, at 4:30 p.m.  for Anime Night. It takes place in the downstairs meeting room on the third Thursday of every month. All you need to do is get cozy and come our way, as snacks and anime will be provided.
Bandera Kronkosky Public Library is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Stay up to date with library events by following us on social media (@BanderaLibrary), or sign up for our monthly newsletter through our website at www.banderalibrary.org.  Happy tales, y’all.
