Summer readers tally 2,802 hours of reading, win free pizzas
On Thursday, Oct. 19, Bandera Kronkosky Public Library Library Director Mauri Guillen Fagan presented an award to The Dough Joe owners Lauryn Erfurt Moore and Owen Moore, in honor of their generous support of the library’s first ever Summer Pizza Reading Challenge.
One hundred and seventy kids, teens, and adults participated from June 1, until Aug. 31, keeping track of how many minutes they were reading. For every 120 minutes of reading a child completed, and every 1,000 minutes of reading teens and adults read, The Dough Joe gave our patrons free pizza for each reading log they returned.
The total number of minutes turned in during the program was 168,492 minutes! That’s 2,802 hours or 117 days straight of reading.
