Bandera City Council selects Stan Farmer as city administrator
At the Bandera City Council meeting on Oct. 20, council members voted to appoint Stan Farmer to serve as the new city administrator.
“I’d like to thank our interim city administrator for his leadership in this process, city staff for their professionalism, the council for the thoughtfulness and dedication, and the public who joined us in this process and provided valuable feedback. We all look forward to welcoming Mr. Farmer and his family to Bandera, Texas!” Mayor Rebeca Gibson said.
“My wife and I are very excited to join this wonderful community in our beloved Hill Country. I am very excited about the opportunity to serrve the residents and businesses of Bandera,” Farmer said.
Farmer holds a Masters of Public Affairs degree from the University of Texas LBJ School of Public Affairs, and holds certifications as a certified manager, certified planner, and as a certified public manger through the Texas State University. Farmer is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served in military intelligence and as a marksmanship instuctor. He was reared in San Antonio, before attending the Universtity of Texas at Austin as an undergraduate.
He has more than 20 years’ experience as a city manager, with more than 13 years as the city manager of Horseshoe Bay. During his tenure with the City of Horseshoe Bay, he completed numerous large scale capital improvement projects, including expanded water and wastewater facilities, and a 60-mile road improvement project. Farmer was instrumental in the city’s AA+ Bond rating, Texas Scenic City Designation, and the Texas Government Finance Officer’s Association’s Budget Award. Farmer has also worked with community business owners developing a revolving loan fund, using USDA seed money to help small businesses.
He is expected to begin his new duties in early November.
