Lakehills Turkey Day meal a huge success

The 12th annual Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner, held in the Lakehills Community Center, was a rousing success, serving 382 people, including some who receive Meals on Wheels. Even though no food was served before 11 a.m., the doors were open and the Center was crowded by 10:30.
The musicians were getting in the mood by then and the people were visiting while patiently waiting for the official kick-off.
The decorations were lovely and the music was provided by the Beedle and Hurlin families. All of it spoke of gratitude in the spirit of the holiday.
The meal consisted of the traditional turkey with all the expected sides and the desserts gave the impression of being unlimited, in quantity as well as variety.
Bill Beedle gave the invocation and expressed his thanks to the Center for the use of the facilities and to the Hill Country Samaritans for sponsoring the event. He especially thanked the musicians and the approximately four dozen volunteers who decorated, prepared the food, and would clean up afterwards.
Now, the Samaritans are looking forward to their next big event, the Walk Through Bethlehem, to be held at the Lakehills Community Center, 11,225 PR 37, on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 15 and 16, from 6 - 8 p.m.
“Bethlehem” will feature the talents of the Hill Country Samaritans Children’s Choir, which will perform the “Tale of Three Trees.” The Walk is free to all and all are invited to experience Bethlehem 2,000 years ago.
The Hill Country Samaritans was formed in 2018, with the motto, “Loving Christ and serving others.” It is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. They partner with churches, businesses and individuals in Jesus’ name to meet the needs of others in the community.
Volunteers are needed now to help build “Bethlehem” and donations are always welcome. To volunteer, or to get more information, go to the website at hillcountrysamaritans.org or call 210-818-3519. They can also be followed on Facebook.
