The Latest at the Bandera Library
By Mauri Guillén Fagan
Bandera Library Director
As the end of the month approaches, it’s time to pull out those calendars and save the date for the upcoming Friends of the Library Monthly Book Fair on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is the big mama jama book fair where we wheel out boxes and boxes of books all available by donation. The proceeds go to funding the library’s new books. It’s a win-win. You get great books in paperback and hardcover and the added benefit of one-stop shopping for Christmas. With books, movies, music, and puzzles all available for purchase, you can cross every name off your shopping list.
Speaking of our Friends group, the Friends of the Library are looking for new volunteers to help out with the monthly book fairs and to serve on the steering committee. The Friends of the Library work to raise the funds the library uses to purchase all the wonderful new books you see each time you come into the library. They also raise funds to support the library’s programs for building literacy in children. It is a great opportunity to give back to the community and support the library. Become a Friends volunteer today!
Every Saturday is our Dungeons & Dragons meet up, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The group has grown enough to need a second Dungeon Master – if you have a knack for it or think you might, contact [email protected] to sign up.
The Monthly Book Club is hosting their annual Christmas luncheon in lieu of a reading discussion next Thursday, Dec. 7, at 10 a.m. Participants should bring a wrapped book to take part in the gift exchange. To get details on the luncheon, feel free to call the library.
Bandera Kronkosky Public Library is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is available upon request. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Stay up to date with library events by following us on social media (@BanderaLibrary), or sign up for our monthly newsletter through our website at www.banderalibrary.org.
Happy tales, y’all.
