The Latest at the Bandera Library

By Mauri Guillén Fagan
Bandera Library Director

You are about to enter another dimension. A journey into a wonderous land where time and calories have no meaning. Next stop, the HOLidAy TiMe WaRP. From now until the 31st of December, it’s a whirlwind of cookies, presents and carols. Stopping by your local library and getting a great book or movie is the perfect way to slow down.
We have some great events coming up this month so take a moment to pull out your calendar. On Friday, Dec. 8, we have a make-and-take event all day long. We will be painting taper candles for holiday decorating. Mark Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 10 a.m., for the Bandera County Garden Club. The group meets in the Texana Room and discusses all their tips and tricks for gardening in the Texas Hill Country.
Thursday, Dec. 14, at 4 p.m., is the bimonthly macramé class in the Texana Room. We do provide some supplies, but if you want to use a special color for your projects feel free to bring your own. Friday, Dec. 15, we will have another holiday craft make-and-take where we will be making simmer pots. Simmer pots are a DIY, natural potpourri to make your home smell just exactly like the holidays. Come by and learn the recipe and then use the beautiful, but inexpensive ingredients to make a lovely Christmas gift for friends, co-workers or neighbors.
We have two new displays up that are just waiting for you to peruse. Since it’s the holidays, check out one of the variety of holiday themed books and movies (even a puzzle!) available. One of them is sure to get you into the holiday spirit.
And while the holidays can be a beautiful and fun time of year, it can also be emotionally challenging. It’s an important time to get in lots of self-care and keep tabs on our mental health. So come by and check out our recommended reading display with a selection of the library’s titles on mental health and caring for oneself.
Don’t forget our holiday hours coming up.
Bandera Kronkosky Public Library is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is available upon request. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Stay up to date with library events by following us on social media (@BanderaLibrary), or sign up for our monthly newsletter through our website at www.banderalibrary.org.
