Bandera Middle School Girls Basketball vs. Carrizo Springs
By Coach Amanda F. Nelson-Green
Girls Physical Education/Athletics
Bandera Middle School
8th Grade A Team
8th Grade A team battled against Carrizo Springs, losing an aggressive match 17-40. Defensively our girls picked it up in the second half where they showed heart and grit to finish the game. We had many steals on the night that lead to fast break points. Our rebounding has improved tremendously since the first game, and they are putting the ball back up to score. We are starting to spread the ball around and more players are stepping up to score. We will travel to Del Rio next Monday to take on the Queens.

8th Grade B Team
The Lady Bulldog 8th grade B team defeated Carrizo Springs 14 to 13 in another come-from-behind win. The Bulldogs got off to a slow start. They were down by 4 points at the beginning of the 4th quarter, 6 to 10. However, the ladies stepped up their defensive game and used their aggressive defense to generate offense and finished strong, scoring 8 points in the 4th quarter. Karlee Hamilton had 5 rebounds, and Jada Bergfeld led the team in steals. Madison Frazee sank the game-winning three-pointer with only 2 minutes left on the clock. The 8th grade B team improved their record to 3 wins and 1 loss.
7th Grade A Team
The 7th grade A team lost to Carrizo Springs 10-33. The Lady Bulldogs moved the ball well offensively, led by point guard Blu Rollo and Aaliyah Khan, the first half, but our open shots wouldn’t fall in. Brooke Montelongo crashed the boards with 12 rebounds and Gabrielle Colony with 4 rebounds. Rehnahta Gomez energized the team with her opening 3 pointer and Gracen Spruell had 7 steals. Makensie Clay and Sienna Collazo played an outstanding game, hustling on defense, Kassidy Sizemore and Maddie Arriola forcing steals with two each. These girls fought hard in this battle with the Lady Cats but we are ready to work hard this week as we travel to Del Rio to take on the Queens next Monday.
7th Grade B Team
B Girls Basketball played against Carrizo Springs Monday night winning the game 21-14. The girls have played their best basketball yet and kept the lead the entire game. Although Carrizo Springs played tough competitive basketball, this did not lose our focus on the game. Defense was a critical part of the team's success that every player contributed to. Every player was able to get at least one block or a steal (most players had both) during the game which gave the team extra chances for more opportunities on offense. Cealy Billings and Makayla Clay both scored 2 points, Jazmine Rhodes scored 4, Ryley Boyd scored 5, and Lilian Caberea scored 8 points with 6 of those being in the 4th quarter. The team is going to build on this win and continue to work hard during practice to improve our competitiveness to prepare for our next game at Del Rio on Monday.
