Bandera Academic Decathlon team places second at regionals, advances to state

The Bandera Academic Decathlon team will advance to the Thomas E. Mosley State competition (Division 1) in Feb., after a second place finish at Regional Competition in Corpus Christi.
The team also placed first in Super Quiz and had three of the nine individuals recognized as overall high scoring individuals during last weekend’s competition. 
These individuals were:
~ William Ozzie Knowles, honors division – 1st place;
~ Raegan Derrick, scholastic division – 2nd place;
~ Steven Koonce, varsity division – 1st place.

The team amassed 28 individual medals, in addition to the overall top scorers.
Here is a list of medals won by the team members:
~ Interview: Brooke Bankston – bronze
~ Literature: Ozzie Knowles – silver; Luke Polanco – gold; Steven Koonce – gold
~ Mathematics: Raegan Derrick – bronze; Luke Polanco – bronze; Steven Koonce – gold
~ Music: Ozzie Knowles – gold; Raegan Derick – gold; Luke Polanco – silver; Steven Koonce – bronze
~ Art: Ozzie Knowles – silver
~ Economics: Ozzie Knowles – gold; Steven Koonce – gold
~ Essay: Ozzie Knowles – bronze; Raegan Derrick -  bronze; Steven Koonce – gold
~ Speech: Ozzie Knowles – silver, Haily Sturgis – silver; Journey Garcia – silver
~ Science: Ozzie Knowles – gold; Vanessa Perez – bronze; Haily Sturgis – bronze; Luke Polanco – bronze
~ Social Science: Ozzie Knowles – gold; Vanessa Perez – bronze; Raegan Derrick – gold; Steven Koonce – gold
