A&M Fruit Tree Workshop has successful turnout
By Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Service
Bandera County
A large crowd gathered at an orchard in Bandera County last week to learn about the planting, watering, fertilization, pest management and pruning of fruit trees. The event was organized by Mark Zoeller, Bandera County AgriLife Extension Agent, and conducted by Dr. Larry Stein, Professor, Associate Department Head for A&M Extension Programs and Extension Horticulturist specializing in Pecans/fruit crops and vegetable crops from Uvalde.
Stein demonstrated the pruning of peach, plum, and pear trees using trees in the orchard. He also touched on the pruning Japanese Persimmons and propagating figs from a cutting.
If you missed the workshop, fruit tree fact sheets can be found on the Aggie Horticulture website at https://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/fruit-nut/
