It looks like an early spring!
Pennsylvania’s most famous rodent emerged from his burrow at Gobbler’s Knob this morning, and the little fella’ did not his shadow, predicting winter’s end is nigh.
Punxsutawney Phil has predicted an extended winter more than 100 times since 1887, hitting a record of accuracy most meteorologists can only dream of.
It’s also worth noting the movie Groundhog Day, starring Bill Murray, marks its 31st anniversary this year. Burned out and cynical weatherman Phil Connors is trapped in a time loop, repeating Feb. 2 over, and over, and over again. Whatculture.com did some math, calculating Connors relived the same day more than 12,000 times - almost 34 years.
