Texas Master Naturalists seeking volunteers for pollinator garden at Bandera Natural History Museum
The pollinator garden at the Bandera Natural History Museum, at 267 Old San Antonio in Bandera, has become a local treasure under the loving care of members of the Hill Country Texas Master Naturalists. Over the past few years, high quality compost was furrowed in to break down the cardboard-like mulch previously smothering the plants. The result will be a healthier soil environment for spring planting.
"This project is one that clearly meets our mission as it provides education, outreach and service dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas within our community,” Bandera resident and Hill County Texas Master Naturalists pollinator garden Project Manager Janis Arterbury said.
The garden is grateful, as are the birds and the insects that benefit from its beauty and energy.
If you are interested in helping with the Bandera Natural History Museum pollinator garden, contact Arterbury at [email protected]. Volunteers work every other Wednesday, starting at 10 a.m., for one to one-and-a-half hours.
The Hill Country Texas Master Naturalists work to improve the natural resources in the region for its people, flora, and fauna in addition to volunteering at many area state parks, nature centers and gardens. If you are interested in becoming a Texas Master Naturalist or having the Texas Master Naturalists help with your project, contact the Hill Country Chapter at [email protected].
