The Arthur Nagel Community Clinic has announced its second annual community-wide Bandera Bunny Run/Walk 5K, to be held on Saturday, April 13. The race was created last year to raise needed funding for clinic patients who require additional care from medical specialists in fields such as oncology, neurology, and cardiology, but lack the means to afford such care.
The Bandera Bunny Run/Walk 5K will begin at 8:30 a.m., at the Bandera Village of Hope Events Center, 1116 12th Street, home of the Nagel Clinic, and features a course that will take participants by the historic courthouse, through the center of town, and along the beautiful Medina River before returning to the Clinic. Race day registration opens at 7 a.m. The festive race highlights the energy of spring and a return to warmer weather. Bunny ears and costumes are encouraged but optional.
Runners and walkers of all ages are encouraged to register as soon as possible. Prizes will be awarded in seven categories for men, women, and children. Families and friends are welcome to cheer the participants as they make their way to the finish line.
Early Bird registration is open now at athleteguild.com. The registration fee is $35 per person until March 13, when it will increase to $45 per person. Middle and high school students race for $20 each. Children aged 10 and under race for free.
All those registering will receive an official Bandera Bunny Run/Walk 5K t-shirt, and a special event goodie bag which includes a timed chip bib. Race packets may be picked up beginning on Friday, April 12, at the Nagel Clinic, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., or on the morning of the race.
Sponsorships are available for the Bandera Bunny Run/Walk 5K. For information about becoming a sponsor, please contact Susan Broa at [email protected] or by calling the clinic at 830-796-3448. Sponsorships from businesses and individuals offset the cost of promoting the race and help keep the registration fees affordable for all.
Medals will be awarded to the top three males and females in the following age groups: 10-17, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and up. All are welcome regardless of skill level or experience. All children participants will receive a ribbon.
