Bandera Independent School District is thrilled to announce that junior student-athlete Bailey Word has been selected to participate in the prestigious 2024 Spain Softball Tour. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity comes after a highly competitive selection process, which considered conference statistical leaders, all-conference honorees, and coach recommendations. The tour is limited to just 32 student-athletes.
Bailey, a rising star in the Bandera ISD softball program, will embark on an 11-day journey in Spain, where she will engage in three exhibition games against some of the world's best softball talents. This unique experience will not only allow Bailey to showcase her skills on an international stage, but also provide her with an immersive cultural experience.
The tour itinerary offers Bailey a blend of softball excellence and cultural exploration. Alongside the softball games, she will partake in a guided tour of iconic landmarks such as the Gaudi Houses, Port Olympic and a visit to the renowned Camp Nou Stadium, home to the FC Barcelona professional soccer team, which will further enrich Bailey's cultural understanding and appreciation.
Coach Kuenzel and the entire Bandera ISD community extend their heartfelt congratulations to Bailey for earning a spot on this prestigious softball tour.
"Bailey's dedication, skill, and passion for the game have rightfully earned her a place among the best. We are immensely proud of her accomplishments, and we have no doubt that she will represent Bandera ISD with utmost excellence in Spain,” Kuenzel said.
