By Vicki L. George
The Bandera Prophet

The annual Lakehills Area Library Fundraiser Dinner invites one and all to enjoy a meal of King Ranch Chicken with beans, cornbread, salad, and beverage for $12 per plate. Homemade desserts will be available for $3 each. The event will be held at the Lakehills Community Center, 11225 PR 37, on Saturday, April 13. The doors will open at 4:30 p.m. and the meal will be served from 5 - 6:30.
There will be a silent auction and a Pick-A-Prize Raffle drawing. Raffle tickets are now available at the library for $5 each or five for $20. The raffle items are: Weber Smokefire II Pellet Grill, donated by Boyle’s True Value; Concrete Hose Pot, donated by RMC Productions; and a $250 Visa Gift Card.
The next monthly Book Sale is Saturday, March 2, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The April Book Sale will be Saturday, April 6.
Election Day is Tuesday, March 5, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Precincts 203 and 204 are consolidated and voting for both will be at the Lakehills library.
The BYOB (Bring Your Own Book) Book Club, meets Tuesday, March 12, 1 - 2 p.m. Each attendee will discuss what they have read recently. At last month’s meeting, two books were recommended: A Spool of Blue Thread by Anne Tyler, and Love is a Wild Assault by Elithe Hamilton Kirkland. Books may be in any format. All are welcome to discuss all things bookish.
The Evening Book Club will meet Tuesday, March 19, at 5:30 p.m. They will discuss War of the Worlds by H. G. Wells.
Every Wednesday, at 10:30 a.m., Ms. Dianna reads to the pre-school kiddos, leading them in songs and crafts.
AACOG offers a free class called A Matter of Balance. Class size is limited and is designed to increase strength, balance, and activity. This reduces the fear of falling. The eight classes will be held on Mondays, 1 - 3 p.m., through April 15. Register by contacting the library.
In the Healthcare Marketplace, healthcare assistance will be offered Wednesday, March 13, 10 a.m. to noon.
The Smartphone Classes are held on the first and third Mondays, March 4 and 18, 11 a.m. to noon.
The Garden Club will host a Plant Sale on Saturday, March 23, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The library will be closed for the Easter Holiday on Friday and Saturday, March 29-30.
Check out all their events and services at their website: lakehillslibrary.org or follow them on Facebook.
The library is located at 7200 FM 1283. The phone is 830-510-2777.
Their hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday, Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
