Lady Bulldogs finish second at Bandera Invitational

The Bandera girls track team continued its strong start to the 2024 season by finishing second behind just Class 6A San Marcos at the Bandera Invitational Track Meet last Thursday.
The Lady Bulldogs claimed 1st place in the 4x200 meter relay with a team comprised of Gabby Barrera, Jayla Blake, Sydney Moore and Kinlee Lawlis. Lawlis was 1st in the 200 meter run individually, and Blake, Taytum Moeller, Lawlis and Jazlyn Dickerson also placed 1st in the 4x400 meter relay to close out the meet.
Other medalists included Moore (2nd in the 100 meter hurdles), Dickerson (3rd in the 100 meter hurdles), and Layney Bowman (2nd in high jump).
“It was another week of great competition for us,” Bandera Girls Head Track Coach Brooke Ashcraft said. “It is becoming highly competitive amongst the team, which is turning out fast times for us even when the conditions are not conducive.”

100 meter hurdles: Sydney Moore 2nd, Jazlyn Dickerson 3rd
100 meter run: Jesse Battle 6th
4x200 Relay: Gabby Barrera, Jayla Blake, Sydney Moore, Kinlee Lawlis, 1st
400 meter run: Merry Robinson 4th
200 meter run: Kinlee Lawlis 1st, Jayla Blake 4th, Gabby Barrera 6th
4x400 Relay: Jayla Blake, Taytum Moeller, Kinlee Lawlis, Jazlyn Dickerson, 1st
Long Jump: Jazlyn Dickerson 6th
Discus: Jocelyn Klein 4th
High Jump: Layney Bowman 2nd

At the JV level, the Lady Bulldogs placed 3rd overall with 122 points (finishing just seven points back from second place).
