Bulldog boys finish fourth at Bandera Invitational

By Brady Keane
The Bandera Prophet

The Bandera boys track and field team had another strong showing in the Bandera Invitational last week, placing 4th ahead of Devine, Hondo and Lytle while scoring points in nearly every running event.
The Bulldogs strongest race was the 200m dash, as Bandera claimed three of the race’s top 6 spots. Freshman Breydan Gherman was first, junior Sam Snavely was third and sophomore Jeffry Thomas finished fifth.
Senior Mariano Casas had another strong meet for the Bulldogs, scoring points in each of the events he competed in. Casas finished 2nd in the 800m run, 3rd in the 400m run and anchored a 4th place finish in the 4x400m relay.
Other top three finishes for Bandera included a 3rd place finish in 4x100m relay (Gherman, Colton Boyd, Eli Salas and Tyler Quinn), Esteban Leyva (3rd in the 110 hurdles) and a 3rd place finish by the 4x200m relay (Quinn, Snavely, Boyd, Gherman).
The Bandera track and field team will be back in action in La Vernia on Thursday March 7.
“The guys put together another week of good performances in front of the home crowd,” Bandera Boys Head Track Coach Sam Farrell said. “It was a cold day, but we still saw some PRs. We’re getting a lot of contributions from some younger guys which is exciting, and I know they are ready to get back after it next week in La Vernia.”
