Recycled items are shipped to processing facility

By Janus Olive
Don’t Make Waste Bandera

On April 23, Bandera County Recycling loaded and shipped 49 bales of recyclable aluminum cans and #1 plastic bottles to the Waste Management Recycling Facility in San Antonio.
The shipment weighed a total of 8.2 tons. Revenue from the sale of these items will be deposited into the county’s recycling budget for upkeep of the site and maintenance of equipment. Also, this 8.2 tons of recyclables are items that will not be dumped into the county’s landfill.
The efforts of county residents, the Don’t Make Waste Bandera recycling volunteers, Commissioner Jody Rutherford, county personnel and the statewide rural recycling co-op, Keep Texas Recycling, continue to make Bandera County’s recycling initiative a successful endeavor.
The recycling site, located next to Mansfield Park, is open Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Collection is supervised by Don’t Make Waste Bandera recycling volunteers. Items accepted include: flattened corrugated cardboard, aluminum beverage cans and #1 plastic PET drink bottles. Please make sure that all items are clean and free of debris.
Thank you, Bandera County, for supporting community recycling!
