Lakehills Library Leanings

Two great events are planned for the kiddos this summer: First, the library is hosting a Kids Steam Camp, for youngsters 8-9 years old. For a registration fee of $10, the kids will attend a one-week camp, from June 17 through 21, 3 - 4:30 p.m. The fee includes their very own camp shirt and lots of learning and fun. Parents can sign up at the library and there are scholarships available.
The second event for the kiddos is the Summer Reading Program, “Adventure Begins at Lakehills Library.” There will be two showings every Wednesday in June and July, one at 10:30 a.m. and the other at 1 p.m. On June 5, Richard Blake will present a Magic Show; June 12 will feature a story told by Bernadette Nason; June 19 is Children’s Music Show with Joe McDermott; June 26 the kids will have science experiments; and July 3 will be Cactus Painting.
The program will continue through July and conclude on July 31 with a Cowboy Party featuring Kevin Fitzpatrick. Parents can sign up for free at the library.
The June Book Sale will take place on Saturday, June 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The July Book Sale  will take place on Saturday, July 6, also from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The BYOB (Bring Your Own Book) Book Club, will meet Tuesday, June 11, 1 - 2 p.m.
May’s recommended books included: “From Time Immemorial” by Joan Peters; “Bear Meat ’N’ Honey” by Greg Walton; and “Empire of the Summer Moon” by S. C. Gwynne. All are welcome to discuss all things bookish.
The Evening Book Club will meet Tuesday, June 25, at 5:30 p.m. See the library for their new list.
The Board will meet on Wednesday, June 12, at 4:30 p.m. The public is welcome.
The Benefits Enrollment Center will be available Wednesday, June 12, 10 a.m. to noon. They provide application assistance for those over 65 or disabled.
The Garden Club will meet on Saturday, June 22, at 11 a.m.

Their hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday, Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
