Applicants Sought for Bandera County Appraisal Review Board
Applications are being accepted for Bandera County residents interested in serving on the 2022 Bandera County Appraisal Review Board (ARB).
The ARB hears property owner appeals regarding appraised values, exemption denials, and other Appraisal District related matters.
Members of the ARB appointed by the Bandera Central Appraisal District Board of Directors serve two-year terms. Service on the ARB does not constitute a full-time job. Members are paid $120 per day for each day of service, reimbursed for approved meals, and paid mileage at the current year federal mileage rate.
The number of appeals filed each year will determine the ARB hearings schedule. The ARB service is generally a full-time commitment during the summer months and requires members to be available to serve all day 2-3 days a week from May through July, one day every quarter, and as needed throughout the year to complete any filed appeals.
State law requires training and attendance. The most important qualification for any ARB member is an attitude of fairness and willingness to devote sufficient time to their responsibilities. Texas law also contains specific provisions on eligibility.
Candidates for the ARB must be current residents of Bandera County and must have resided in the county a minimum of two years prior to appointment. Persons who fall into any of the following categories are ineligible:
